Feb 28: The Different Zoo

Mom, Corbin & I went alllllll the way to NW Trek today, or as Corbin called it: the different zoo. Woodland Park is, of course, The Zoo and Point Defiance is the Other Zoo, in case you were wondering... it was a nice afternoon & cool to see some bison again.

Feb 27: Yes Way Jose

Today I kicked off two days of kooky stories, tall tales & minor meltdowns... yep a weekend with the Corbinator. We took a little trip to Snoqualmie to check out the cool old trains.

Feb 26: Friday Night Cruisin

Ahhh yea.... its Friday & time for the weekend! After a little haircut & some laundry & some super duper exciting errands I made it over to dma's for some good ol Friday night fun.

Feb 25: SURPRISE!!!!

Yay! Today is my brother-in-law's birthday and my sister organized a nice little surprise party for him. It was great! And, he was completely surprised. Nice job, Katie!

(on a side note: I purchased additional memory from Google today. I was at 76% of my 1gb allocated free storage! Now I can post again on Fantastico with flurry of freedom!)

Feb 24: Junba

Not too long ago, I posted a pic of Pinky's cute little paw; today's post is of Pinky's brother, Junior. I set him up on the window sill in dma's office and used the beautiful ambient lighting for this image. Junior is one of the most beautiful cats I have ever met; no offense to my monkey nephews, but Junior is the Pierce Brosnan of cats.... mysterious, gorgeous, and with perfect hair.

Feb 23: 28 miles. yes!

yep. I live 28 miles from Sea-tac. Thanks, mapquest!

Feb 22: Dreaming

So, I have been saving up some United miles for awhile now, and am faced with a challenging dilemma... what to do with my miles? Europe, maybe? maybe ;) I requested a brochure from Rick Steves... just in case.

Feb 21: Cama Beach

I love my Lensbaby. This pic was taken at Cama Beach State Park on Camano Island. They have a bunch of little cabins (and you can rent them out, too) and this one in particular caught eye. What a lovely day.

Feb 20: Spring

Ahhhh, the first signs of spring! DMA and I enjoyed the beautifully sunny weather with a stroll through St. Edward's Park. I found a cluster of daffodils and could not resist taking a few frames.

Feb 19: Vegetarian Surprise

ohmygoodness. Per usual, the Ag Outlook Forum's Livestock & Poultry Luncheon was held on a Friday during Lent. Usually, it is a bit odd because the speaker would talk about beef while we were all served fish. This year, though, the hotel prepared roast beef. Oh no! Three of us at the table requested vegetarian dishes, which ended up in a round of humorous incidents. I took a picture of my lunch just to remember this funny moment. sigh.

Feb 18: Economist Solo

In contrast to yesterday's full elevator, I managed to be in the elevator by myself today. It was a much needed moment of tranquility, too. I was in DC to attend the ag outlook forum and this year had over 1,600 attendeees. Whoa.

Feb 17: Economists in Elevator

How many economists can fit in one elevator? Seems like the beginning of a cheesy joke, but actually, it is the subject of my picture. I think there were about 12 of us in there? Crazy. Even crazier is that we picked up a few random hotel guests along the way, too. Glad we used Dial.

Feb 16: Detroit

Today, I was on a business trip of my own! I flew to DC to attend an econ meeting and the Ag Outlook Forum. I snapped this pic of the fountain in the Detroit Airport. Note to self: wear comfortable shoes & be prepared to hustle through Detroit!

Feb 15: Portland

Yay! It is President's day! I had the day off of work, so I joined DMA on a business trip down to Portland. After he wrapped up his event, we headed a mere 30 miles east to Multnomah Falls. Pretty, huh?

Feb 14: Muddy Valentine's Day

Well, today was February 14th... Valentine's Day. Ugh. My dear sweet friend, dma, and I headed East and ended up walking the muddy lake bed of Lake Easton. It was pretty cool and it will be fun to head back here in the summer when the lake is full again!

Feb 13: Baby Pinknas

It was a wonderfully sunny day and I LOVED the way the light was hitting Pinky's little paw as he slept on my lap. Awwwe, baby pinknas...

Feb 12: Sunrise

Its a bummer that I am only posting black & white images on this blog... the colors in this morning's sunrise were gorgeous; deep dark reds and oranges. I took this pic from the door by my desk at work.

Feb 11: Slumdog

I am completely loving my Bluray player! Tonight I made some old school style popcorn on the stove and watched Slumdog Millionaire. It was a much needed relief from the hustle & bustle of the crazy work week.

Feb 10: Its Bananas

I had the good fortune of being able to hang out with my sister again today! We went to the Tulalip Casino for comedy night and to listen to her favorite band, Stripped. Its Bananas... b-a-n-an-as. Its Bananas!!! b-a-n-an-as

Feb 9: West Side

The temperture in the white explorer read 40 degrees. Any normal folks would consider the chilly weather and think twice before starting a beach outing. Well, dma and I aren't so normal. We had a nice stroll though; the stars were lovely and the brisk weather only kept us motivated to take our shots & keep moving. The people in today's photograph had the right idea: bonfire.

Feb 8: Clean Keys

I am such a clutz. Instead of tossing my old yucky orange into the first floor trash compactor, I tossed in my keys. Time instantly turned into slow motion as I said "nooooo" and watched my keys fall into the filthy abyss... I stood helpless as I heard the clank clank clack of my keys hitting the metal shute. Thankfully, the maintenance guy for my apartments was available and able to retreive them with ease.

I promptly broke out the clorox wipes and cleaned those darn keys.

Feb 7: Super Bowl Sunday

Today was the great American tradition called "Super Bowl Sunday" but dma & I were no where near a festive football gathering. We ran a couple errands, thoroughly enjoying the traffic-free roads, and ended up in Issaquah.

Feb 6: Estuary

The weather was wonderful today! DMA and I made our way up to the Bay View State Park on lovely Padilla Bay. We walked the beach awhile & found this old boat. I think I dropped about 50 frames... 30 without exaggerating... here, trying different angles & lenses. We ended our photo shoot at the park, enjoying a nice el nino sunset.

Feb 5: My Desk

This morning I was sitting at my desk, doing my usual Friday morning price announcements, with one big exception... I was practicing our emergency/remote access procedures and was using an aircard to connect to the server. o. m. gosh. this thing was super slowsky. I had a few mintues of time on my hand, so I snapped a quick pic of one of my office walls. neat.

Feb 4: Belltown

After work, dma and I headed down to Belltown. I have never really walked around there, just driven through. It was a nice stroll. I took this pic because something about it reminded me of New York. I so compeletly heart NY. hmmm, maybe a trip there is in order sometime this year?

Feb 3: 8088

Today was a day of celebration... dma's website had 8088 visits in January! Crazy, huh?

Feb 2: Seeeeesy

Wow... today was a great day! Worked a half-day then spent the rest of the afternoon with my sister. What a lovely, rare treat! We watched Avatar at the Pac Sci Imax (btw... awe-sommme) and had time for a little bit of sushi, too! Yup... I ate some sushi (lol... it was just cucumber, no fish/shellfish/oogie stuff)

Feb 1: Happy Early B-day

Exactly one year ago tomorrow, I made the leap from Canon to Nikon. It was hard to give up my beautiful Rebel xti, complete with my original bff the 50mm & *brand new* 70-300mm, but I knew that Nikon would have the extreme sharpness that I yearned for. I remember the drive back home after the rebel/d80 exchange; I couldn't believe how connected I was to the xti... as if it were a part of my family, or a very dear pet. One year later, though, and I am thoroughly pleased with my D80. You could even say I loave it.

Jan 31: Trains!

Sunday was lovely! I started off the day with Mass at the Newman Center, then shared some laughs and good times with a handful of my former PMs :) I wrapped up my Newman stuff pretty early, so dma and I still had time for a quick trip to the train museum in Snoqualmie.

Jan 30: Port Townsend

On Saturday, dma and I explored the quaint town of Port Townsend. It was a nice, leisurely day from the get go; setting the stage for interesting, creative pics. I snapped this quick pic of some weathered window panes in front of a vintage shop. I took it in color, but converted to black & white using the in-camera tools.

(on a technical/administrative note... I just realized that I will need to be sure to get caught up on my posts by the last day of the month in order to keep a whole month together!)
