Feb 25: SURPRISE!!!!

Yay! Today is my brother-in-law's birthday and my sister organized a nice little surprise party for him. It was great! And, he was completely surprised. Nice job, Katie!
(on a side note: I purchased additional memory from Google today. I was at 76% of my 1gb allocated free storage! Now I can post again on Fantastico with flurry of freedom!)
Feb 24: Junba

Not too long ago, I posted a pic of Pinky's cute little paw; today's post is of Pinky's brother, Junior. I set him up on the window sill in dma's office and used the beautiful ambient lighting for this image. Junior is one of the most beautiful cats I have ever met; no offense to my monkey nephews, but Junior is the Pierce Brosnan of cats.... mysterious, gorgeous, and with perfect hair.

Feb 19: Vegetarian Surprise
ohmygoodness. Per usual, the Ag Outlook Forum's Livestock & Poultry Luncheon was held on a Friday during Lent. Usually, it is a bit odd because the speaker would talk about beef while we were all served fish. This year, though, the hotel prepared roast beef. Oh no! Three of us at the table requested vegetarian dishes, which ended up in a round of humorous incidents. I took a picture of my lunch just to remember this funny moment. sigh.Feb 18: Economist Solo

Feb 12: Sunrise
Its a bummer that I am only posting black & white images on this blog... the colors in this morning's sunrise were gorgeous; deep dark reds and oranges. I took this pic from the door by my desk at work.
Feb 11: Slumdog
I am completely loving my Bluray player! Tonight I made some old school style popcorn on the stove and watched Slumdog Millionaire. It was a much needed relief from the hustle & bustle of the crazy work week.

Feb 10: Its Bananas
Feb 9: West Side

The temperture in the white explorer read 40 degrees. Any normal folks would consider the chilly weather and think twice before starting a beach outing. Well, dma and I aren't so normal. We had a nice stroll though; the stars were lovely and the brisk weather only kept us motivated to take our shots & keep moving. The people in today's photograph had the right idea: bonfire.
Feb 8: Clean Keys
I am such a clutz. Instead of tossing my old yucky orange into the first floor trash compactor, I tossed in my keys. Time instantly turned into slow motion as I said "nooooo" and watched my keys fall into the filthy abyss... I stood helpless as I heard the clank clank clack of my keys hitting the metal shute. Thankfully, the maintenance guy for my apartments was available and able to retreive them with ease. I promptly broke out the clorox wipes and cleaned those darn keys.

Feb 6: Estuary
The weather was wonderful today! DMA and I made our way up to the Bay View State Park on lovely Padilla Bay. We walked the beach awhile & found this old boat. I think I dropped about 50 frames... 30 without exaggerating... here, trying different angles & lenses. We ended our photo shoot at the park, enjoying a nice el nino sunset.Saturday, February 6, 2010
Feb 5: My Desk

This morning I was sitting at my desk, doing my usual Friday morning price announcements, with one big exception... I was practicing our emergency/remote access procedures and was using an aircard to connect to the server. o. m. gosh. this thing was super slowsky. I had a few mintues of time on my hand, so I snapped a quick pic of one of my office walls. neat.

Feb 2: Seeeeesy
Wow... today was a great day! Worked a half-day then spent the rest of the afternoon with my sister. What a lovely, rare treat! We watched Avatar at the Pac Sci Imax (btw... awe-sommme) and had time for a little bit of sushi, too! Yup... I ate some sushi (lol... it was just cucumber, no fish/shellfish/oogie stuff)Monday, February 1, 2010
Feb 1: Happy Early B-day

Exactly one year ago tomorrow, I made the leap from Canon to Nikon. It was hard to give up my beautiful Rebel xti, complete with my original bff the 50mm & *brand new* 70-300mm, but I knew that Nikon would have the extreme sharpness that I yearned for. I remember the drive back home after the rebel/d80 exchange; I couldn't believe how connected I was to the xti... as if it were a part of my family, or a very dear pet. One year later, though, and I am thoroughly pleased with my D80. You could even say I loave it.
Jan 31: Trains!
Jan 30: Port Townsend

On Saturday, dma and I explored the quaint town of Port Townsend. It was a nice, leisurely day from the get go; setting the stage for interesting, creative pics. I snapped this quick pic of some weathered window panes in front of a vintage shop. I took it in color, but converted to black & white using the in-camera tools.
(on a technical/administrative note... I just realized that I will need to be sure to get caught up on my posts by the last day of the month in order to keep a whole month together!)
