Apr 23: SFO

aaaaah, the sweet freedom of vacation, sweetened a little bit more with the company of a great friend. This afternoon, DMA and I flew from Seattle to Fresno with a super short layover in San Francisco. As we approached our gate, we came across a scene that he had photographed earlier this month. I thought it was an odd coincidence & snapped a quick frame for the pic o' the day.

Apr 17: Sunset
I knew there was a little beach near the Mukilteo ferry landing; I just hadn't been there in years. I was happy that it was the destination of the day though... it was a perfectly lovely evening; the sun was setting, there was a gentle breeze, and it was just cool enough for a fleece jacket. aaaaah.Saturday, April 17, 2010

Apr 13: Perspective
I finished my errands and was delighted to see that there was still a good amount of daylight, so I headed out for a walk. At first, the thoughts in my head were that I needed to get out & walk for the benefits of exercise. I have had too many negative thoughts in my head lately regarding weight issues, so an evening walk seemed like a good idea... even if I was dead tired! After about 20 minutes I passed by a Starbucks... I noticed Barnes & Noble in the background & saw one of my favorite teriyaki places up the street. I realized that I wasn't just walking for the health benefits; I was embracing my neighborhood... finally "living" in Woodinville. It reminded me of my life in DC; although I was only there three months the pedestrian lifestyle suited me. I thought about the miles already trekked by my trusty Keens on the East Coast and felt comforted by the thought of local steps yet to be trekked. I noticed that my stance changed instantly; amazing what a little change in perspective can bring, eh?Monday, April 12, 2010
Apr 11: 5 o'clock Somewhere
While I was on the beach at Carkeek Park today, a windsurfer hollered out from the shore "What time is it?" I dunno... my cell phone battery died. I called out "Five!" even though I really had no idea. hahaha. I ended up taking this pic to see the time on my camera. It was 5:51. close enough. mmmblah.Apr 10: Breezie
On our way to Myrtle Edwards Park, dma and I stopped off at one of his little places along the shores of Lake Washington. We saw an eagle! As dma snapped a few pics with the bigma, I sat blissfully in the breeze. I know this is a wierd picture for today; but sitting in this spot was memorable. The warm sun glowing on my head nourished my soul, while the gentle wind energized me and reminded me how wonderful sweet little moments just kind of sneak up on ya. ;)Thursday, April 8, 2010

Apr 4: Arrrg Easter Pirate

Check it out... Corbin is dressed up as a pirate! Oh wait, no no no, according to Corbin, he is "wearing a costume." Anyway, I kinda dig it. I also love that he is using the same plate that me, Katie & a handful of cousins used when were his age and visited our grandma & grandpa's house. I can still picture it full of steamed carrots, baked potatoes & meatloaf, accompanied by a tupperware cup filled with milk from Country Charm.
Apr 3: Say Cheese
I have to give credit to DMA for this shot... although, both the setting and the subject are both below par for his usual portrait work ;) I am thankful, though, that he took this pic (cheesey as it is...) because I FORGOT to take a picture today! I was going to take a picture of our Blue Bunny icecream bars, but was distracted. oh well, this is the way life goes sometimes.Apr 1: Fool's Cake
The white board in my office's kitchen had a cryptic message this morning... something along the line of "the chocolate fudge cake & homemade ice cream were delicious. Today must be a special day." I looked at the counter... no cake. For a split second, I wondered if it was in the fridge; but wondered what the "special day" could be... oh yeah, April Fool's Day. Hardy har-harr. By the end of the day, though, a lovely chocolate cake did appear! yay!
