I finished my errands and was delighted to see that there was still a good amount of daylight, so I headed out for a walk. At first, the thoughts in my head were that I needed to get out & walk for the benefits of exercise. I have had too many negative thoughts in my head lately regarding weight issues, so an evening walk seemed like a good idea... even if I was dead tired! After about 20 minutes I passed by a Starbucks... I noticed Barnes & Noble in the background & saw one of my favorite teriyaki places up the street. I realized that I wasn't just walking for the health benefits; I was embracing my neighborhood... finally "living" in Woodinville. It reminded me of my life in DC; although I was only there three months the pedestrian lifestyle suited me. I thought about the miles already trekked by my trusty Keens on the East Coast and felt comforted by the thought of local steps yet to be trekked. I noticed that my stance changed instantly; amazing what a little change in perspective can bring, eh?
